Thimbles & Acorns

Its nearly autumn, my favourite time of year. Halloween is fast approach and lots of exciting things are happening...im quietly preparing for it all...

Im sick of not finding the clothes I want...of buying things that are unoriginal and end up in the charity shop run a month or so after I've bought them. I've decided to quit shopping and start making my own (unless its bloodmilk or something gorgeous and vintage). I'm begining....right now.

tara, tara!

I need a bit more quiet, to declutter some of the chaos. How can I realistically concentrate on concept ideas when everything in my room whispers at me to look at it! all my pretty things desperate for attention, and the books whisper even louder! Today is going to be a sad day, I never like giving things away - but it needs to be done...maybe tonight I'll feel a bit better? hohum.

I have just under 5 months to create a whole portfolio to apply for university (to study BA in CG & Animation), which is quite hard when I want to specialise in stop-motion...so five months its really only a few moments in the grand scale of individually shot images...However, onward & upward, I've never been defeated by a deadline yet and do not plan to start now!

I plan to split my work to do into categories to ensure I cover everything they could possibly want to see to an admissions portfolio:

  Storyboards

  Project on self exploration - create an alter ego (insert dossier) and create a maquette/armetuer to practise basic moments

  Sculptural evidence

  People in motion

  Sketchbooks & Research
• 
  
  Graphic Design evidence (easiest part!Im that much of a geek im always editing something on the computer)
• 
  
  Concept Art
• 
  
  Completed Scripts  / Ideas / Mind Maps "The art of storytelling"
• 
  
  Evidence of using and understanding programmes such as Photoshop/Maya
• 
  
  Photography - also Soundscaping
• 
  
  Character Designs
• 
  
  Evidence of previous animations / tests/ works in progress (I plan to also use some old fine art installations & films)

Thats the main ones....I think a bit of each will be a nice mix - lets just hope I can pull it off! If anyone has been on an animation course or would know what they are particularly looking for in such a portfolio leave a comment! Would be greatly appreciated, thanks

Time rolls back the wheels of my mind...

Three days ago I sat up all night watching the stars shoot around due to the meteor shower. I wished hard for all the things I wanted in life while Ursa Major glowed brightly down on me. I think I must of wished particularly hard that night, because its all started coming true. Secret little things whispering in wind making dreams come true. Night said goodbye and the stars dissapeared as the sun rose, faint yet bright and you stirred from your slumber our hearts started to beat that old familiar tune. Now the story continues to unfold of the girl & the great bear, we'll travel light and thats the life for us...
